Luca Stricagnoli's new video for Now We Are Free

I love Luca Stricagnoli's music! He's a fantastic guitar player, using all of his fingers to strike up beautiful tunes on his guitars. I've previously shared his covers of Thunderstruck and Sweet Child O' Mine. Now, Stricagnoli has a new album out, featuring some of his own original music as well as come more of his covers. I thought I'd share one of his new videos here. For your aural enjoyment, here is Luca Stricagnoli with Meg Pfeiffer covering "Now We Are Free", a song that Hans Zimmer composed for the film Gladiator:

Billie Jean, smoothly done, by Alexandr Misko

Alexandr Misko, a young musician from Russia, has been bouncing about the interwebs lately with some of his acoustic arrangements for some well-known covers. For instance, I just caught his take on Michael Jackson's Billie Jean and it is pretty damned slick. Definitely worth a listen, my friends. Check it out:

If you dig that, then you might also like some of the tunes from his album that came out last year, "The Songs of Adolescence".

Okay cosmobiologists, music lovers, chilled souls, and all around fun-lovers... Check this out.

The harp guitar is a fantastic instrument, especially in the hands of someone as skilled as Jamie Dupuis. In this cover, Dupuis takes on Pink Floyd's Comfortably Numb and it is absolutely beautiful. Get your minds ready to hear something incredible!

FINGERS Mitchell Cullen

I'm a huge fan of didgeridoo music. Every now and then I'll search around the interwebs for some new awesome didg music. However, one didgeridoo player who I keep happening upon on Facebook and Twitter posts is FINGERS Mitchell Cullen. This young Australian multi-instrumentalist makes some fantastic music, blending together guitar and drums with didgeridoo (as well as other instruments). I highly recommend checking out his website and his music. Here's a sample:

FINGERS makes some awesome tunes. Definitely a young artist worth keeping your eye on in the coming years.

Dead Flowers by Townes Van Zandt

Dead Flowers is one of my favorite songs by The Rolling Stones. It's one of their "honky-tonk" blues/country tunes that has chilling yet powerful lyrics.

Due to the nature of the song, it's easy to cover it in lots of different ways. I personally tend to finger pick the instrumental part and then sing it in my more "twangy" and raspy voice. I got that from Townes Van Zandt's cover of the song, which was featured in the cult classic film The Big Lebowski. Here's a video with that cover version:

Amos Lee - Arms of a Woman

I've been humming, whistling, and singing this tune on and off for the past few days. Arms of a Woman, by Amos Lee, is just a sweet, mellow tune that sticks with you. The instrumental side of the song is played softly, making plenty of room for Lee's soulful voice to dominate. The lyrics remind me of something between the lament of being far from home (which is a huge reality for me; I live 1700 miles from my family) and the warm feeling you get when you're with someone who fills voids in your life without even trying to. I'm taking a break from writing with a finger of Laphroaig whisky and thought it would be a good time to share Amos Lee's Arms of a Woman. Cheers!

ACPAD - "The electronic orchestra in your hands!"

A few weeks ago I saw a video that circulated around Facebook of a wireless MIDI controller that tacked onto an acoustic guitar to offer a range of electronic controls. The thing is called the ACPAD and it looks too sweet to not have one.

Check out the demo video below and then visit their website to keep up to date on when these things will be available for the masses. Until then, keep jammin'!

Luca Stricagnoli - Sweet Child of Mine

You may remember when I posted a sweet video from Luca Stricagnoli earlier this year. The video showed Stricagnoli's acoustic arrangement for AC/DC's Thunderstruck. It was absolutely amazing.

Well here's another video of Luca Stricagnoli published to Youtube on the 5th of July of this year. This time, Stricagnoli is rocking with his version of Guns N' Roses classic Sweet Child O' Mine. Stricagnoli uses two guitars (one of which has two sets of strings) and multiple capos. This is some fine guitar playing!

Here ya go:

You can now buy Luca Stricagnoli's debut album from Candyrat Records. They also offer transcriptions of Stricangoli's instrumental parts for those of us who want to jam!

Update (9 July 2015):

Luca just shared this video to his Facebook and included the following with regard to his setup for this song:

"My new video can also be found on facebook. I’ll take a minute to tell you some interesting facts about this arrangement. The 2 capos (Jim Dunlop Trigger Capo) that can be seen on the main guitar have been slightly altered by myself. I have cut part of the rubber bottom so that some of the strings would not be blocked even after placing the capo. One of the two Trigger Capo was clipped onto the Spider Capo so that it would be in a handy position to quickly place it before the solo to change tuning. Thanks for all your support, love Luca.

Thunderstruck acoustic by Luca Stricagnoli will blow your mind!

Italian guitarist Luca Stricagnoli

Just came across this amazing acoustic arrangement of AC/DC's Thunderstruck by Luca Stricagnoli. This might just be the best thing you're going to hear today!
